The winter music festival MARS
[Music. Assembly. Research. Showbusiness.]
MARS, organized now for the sixth time, turns Seinäjoki’s Rytmikorjaamo into an arena for all that is new and current in the business of music on 2.-5.2.2017. Organized by six locals players in the business, MARS has quickly established itself as an important event for music business professionals. Thanks to its research cooperation, MARS has gained acclaim abroad, too. The intimate, but diverse festival is a good place for pros to meet, researchers to present their findings and students to scout their future options. MARS offers a barrelful of interesting information and know-how related to the most talked about subjects of the day, with theory and practice complementing each other.
Thursday 2.2 and Friday 3.2 boast a host of knowledgeable, courageous and challenging seminar programs.
Over 20 artists and bands perform in town during MARS, which gives Seinäjoki’s live music offering a significant boost for four days. In addition to Rytmikorjaamo, the gigs spread out all over town. The concerts ends to Elmufest, which presents bands recommended by the various live music associations around the country.
The event is organized by the Seinäjoki branch of the University of Arts Sibelius Academy, Rytmi-Instituutti, an institution for education and research of popular music, Seinäjoki live music association Selmu ry, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, Louhimo, a popular music network for children and youth and regional development corporation Frami Oy.
In addition to primary partner development company Into Seinäjoki Oy and MARS partners are University Consortium of Seinäjoki.
